Honiton – part 1

This is the piece of lace I won the Elsie Luxton and Sue Dane Teachers Award for in The Lace Guild’s triennial competition in 2016.  The finished piece is approximately 11 x 11cm.
This pattern is from A WIDER VIEW, DESIGNS SUITABLE FOR: BOBBIN & NEEDLE LACE, EMBROIDERY AND QUILTING  by Barry Biggins.  Beware, I didn’t work all of the design in the book!  The fillings which are all from 121 HONITON LACE FILLINGS by Christine Hawken (now revised and published by Devon Lace Teachers).
This pattern is from NEW DESIGNS IN HONITON LACE by Caroline and Barry Biggins.  It is the only design in the book which wasn’t worked, my interpretation of the pattern appeared on the front cover of LACE 98 (LACE is the quarterly magazine of The Lace Guild)
